Important Tech All Students Should Be Using

EdTech Reviews

If you’re reading this as a student, you’ll know how important technology is. Nowadays, you cannot survive college or university without technology like laptops and phones; although these have become staples more most people anyway in today’s technological society. However, there is a lot of technology that many students won’t be aware of… and they’re missing out!

I’m excited to share my thoughts on the tech all students should be using. In this blog post, we’ll explore why technology is essential for students, what technology is already popular among students, five essential tech bits that every student should be using, and how this tech landscape might evolve in the future.

The Importance of Technology for Students

Technology has become an integral part of everybody’s daily life. From smartphones to laptops to tablets, we rely heavily on technology to help us communicate, work, learn, and even entertain ourselves. For students, technology can be an invaluable tool to enhance their learning experience. It allows them to access information quickly, collaborate with peers, and stay organized.

Technology is also a great equalizer. It gives students access to resources and information that might not have been available to them before. It can help bridge the gap between different socio-economic backgrounds and ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to learn, which is monumental.

Common Technology Amongst Students

It’s no secret that today’s students are tech-savvy. They have grown up in an age where technology has always been a part of their lives. Some of the most common technologies that students use are smartphones, laptops, tablets, and gaming consoles. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat are also extremely popular among students. However, whilst these are obviously popular for good reason, they are not necessarily beneficial for students.

However, I am going to list five bits of tech below that I think all students should be using as they could be very beneficial. Let’s get into it!

1. Online Learning Platforms

Online learning platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and Khan Academy provide students with access to courses and resources from top universities and educators around the world. These platforms offer a flexible and affordable way to learn new skills and enhance their knowledge.

2. Note-taking Apps

Gone are the days of pen and paper. Note-taking apps like Evernote, OneNote, and Google Keep allow students to take and organize their notes in a digital format. These apps can also sync across devices, making it easy to access notes from anywhere.

3. Productivity Apps

Productivity apps like Trello, Asana, and Todoist can help students stay organized and manage their tasks efficiently. These apps provide features like task lists, reminders, and project management tools to help students stay on top of their workload.

4. Grammarly

Writing is an essential skill for students, and Grammarly can help them improve their writing skills. Grammarly is a writing assistant that checks for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. It can also provide suggestions for sentence structure and vocabulary.

5. Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) technology has the potential to revolutionize the way students learn. VR can create immersive learning experiences that can help students understand complex concepts and subjects. It can also be used to simulate real-world scenarios, providing students with a safe and controlled environment to practice their skills.

How This Might Change in the Future

Technology is constantly evolving, and the future is exciting. In the coming years, we can expect to see more advancements in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). These technologies have the potential to transform the way we learn and interact with the world around us.

Technology has become an essential part of our lives, and students are no exception. It provides them with access to information, resources, and opportunities that might not have been available to them otherwise. By using technology to enhance their learning experience, students can develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the 21st century.
